I promised a playlist for the “Rock Around the House” chores game. Today’s the big reveal. Well, that makes it sound a whole lot more exciting than it probably is to you, but making good on promises is always worth celebrating in my book. No, I don't have a book, but when I do that's going in there. So ... we have a couple options here. If you have Spotify, you can follow the playlist there. It's my streaming service of choice. My daily life has changed for the better since I became my own on-the-spot DJ. Spotify: Rock Your Chores playlist And maybe you all knew this, but I just discovered that with my Amazon prime I can stream A LOT of music at no extra cost. I love you, prime. So I cued up the list there too. Amazon Music: Rock Your Chores playlist I was going for upbeat, inspirational and classic. These songs will get you off your booty and moving! I think you’ll find a favorite or two or 12. If you just want to take a peek, you can also see the full list of tunes here. There were a handful of songs not available on Amazon ... but you still have a 70-plus selection, more than 4 hours worth. Ain't no one wants to do chores that long. I was just imagining all the artists on this list at one hell of a party. Tom Petty and Johnny Cash are talking quietly in the corner. Dolly Parton is admiring Nancy Sinatra's boots. Cyndi Lauper and Justin Timberlake are slow dancing. OK, things just got weird. Never mind. Here's a little background on a personal favorite on the list ... War! What is it good for? In the summer of 1970, a Motown protest anthem, “War,” by Edwin Starr became a No. 1 hit. It was intense and angry. Meanwhile in Oregon, my eldest sister had “War” on vinyl, when that was the only option. Whenever she was out of the house, my younger sister and I would play it on repeat. If she knew we were touching her things, there would have been war. We sang into hairbrushes—two little girls with no idea what we were so fired up about. I hope it empowers you to bring a peaceful end to any disorder in your world. Because war, what is good for? Absolutely nothing. Peace out.
